Carncot Green wins Agri Kids Regional Final ...

Agri Kids Regional Final

Congratulations Gabby, Sophia and Phoebe!

Five teams represented Carncot School at the NZ AgriKids regional final in Hawera on Saturday 22 February.

Competing in teams of three, the students needed to complete eight modules based on agriculture and the outdoors. They needed to work together as a team and to be quick - as there were only six minutes at each module. Some of the activities the teams did were change a quad bike tyre, name the parts of a tractor and match NZ pests to their footprints and other information. Some teams got maximum points at modules and everyone worked extremely hard. It was very exciting to try something new and Mrs Morris was so proud of the effort and commitment on the day (as well as some study and preparation beforehand).

Two Carncot teams made it through to the race off in the afternoon, placing them in the top 7 teams of the day (out of 40 teams). Congratulations to Carncot Red (Annabelle, Juliet, Ruby) and Carncot Green (Gabby C, Phoebe, Sophia P). All of the top seven teams then progressed to the finals .... the Race Off!

Points from the modules and how well they did in the Race Off were then combined and Carncot Green came first overall!! The team received backpacks, hats, drink bottles and other sponsor products and school receives $250 for the library (perhaps some agriculture books could be purchased!).

The Green Team has also therefore earned a place in the National Grand Final, representing Manawatu /Taranaki, to be held during July, in Christchurch.

It was a great day and all students represented Carncot really well. A really big thanks to the parents, grandparents and brothers and sisters who came and supported on the day.
