Arts and Crafts Week
Wednesday dawned with a hive of activity as teachers, parents and grandparents set up 11 different activities ranging from mosaic tiles to floral art and many more.As Mozart played, students worked enthusiastically to complete each activity with examples worthy of a show and tell later in the day. Students completed two activities over Wednesday and Thursday with stunning results.
On both days, we were treated to a range of performances by past Carncot students who have followed their dreams in a chosen area of the Arts. Holly Stevens brought her winning entry from the Feilding High School Wearable Arts Show. Her Little Lizard Lost was beautifully designed and her workmanship was recognised and rewarded. Hannah Heng, who teaches dance at Maureen Ax School of Dance, demonstrated her talent in ballet and modern dance with Adele’s song, Someone Like You. This was followed by Kate Spencer, who has qualified for the World Artistic Roller Skating Championships to be held in Brazil. Her routine was awe-inspiring and many of our girls are now keen to visit the local skating club and have a go.
On Thursday, the Freyberg Girls’ Choir performed a variety of entertaining and challenging items. Former Carncot student, Eve Authersuch, was one of the soloists with Carncot’s own singing teacher, Kirsten Clarke, leading the group. Our singers joined the group to sing The Rose. Arts/Crafts Week was a resounding success for all involved. Our thanks to all of the parents and grandparents who gave their time, expertise and resources to enrich our girls’ learning over the two days.
