“We most appreciate the high level of access we have to the teachers and the continuity that is offered by the specialist teaching of core subjects. In an all girls school our daughter thrives in a safe learning environment with like-minded students.”

Manawatu Science and Technology Fair 2011

The last stage of the Manawatu Science and Technology Fair 2011 was the interviewing evening on Friday the 28th August which was intense and very nerve racking.  18 Carncot stood students stood patiently waiting with our boards, a series of judges undertook an indepth interview with each of us.  It was the final stage for us after months of researching, testing and hard work.  This was worth every minute as 5 of us won top prizes.  Our school has now signed up to the CREST Awards so many Year 7 and 8 girls will be completing their First Crest award by the end of this term.  We are very proud of our achievements and we have learnt that hard work really does pay off!

Science Club Fun

egg

During Science Club, we have been investigating forces and how airbags protect us in a car accident.  We tested this by dropping an egg from a certain height onto a plastic bag filled with air.  Most of our eggs did not break and bounced off.  However, if we dropped them directly onto the concrete they certainly did!
